Common typing mistakes

Most typing mistakes come from a handful of habits. Fix the habit and the mistakes fade.

Looking at the keys
Your eyes have to jump between the keyboard and the screen. Fix: keep your eyes on the screen and use the bumps on F and J to find your place.
Using only a few fingers
Some fingers end up doing all the work and have to travel a long way. Fix: give every finger its own keys and return to the home row after each key.
Swapping letters
Typing "teh" for "the" usually means one hand is rushing ahead of the other. Fix: slow down a little and keep an even rhythm.
Rushing
Going faster than your fingers can manage leads to more errors and more time spent fixing them. Fix: type at a pace where you rarely make a mistake, then speed up gradually.
Tense hands
Pressing hard and gripping tires your hands quickly. Fix: relax your shoulders and wrists and tap the keys lightly.

In Zomtype, a word typed with no mistakes earns a bonus, and the end of each run shows your accuracy, so you can see the habits improving.
